You can build the best software in the world, but if it’s a chore to use you’ve already lost. That’s why we put a great deal of emphasis on experience design in the Rumble Laboratory.

By crafting products that are simple and delightful for people to use you are creating a welcoming environment which they will be happy to return to. Below you can read a bit about how we achieve functional yet aesthetically pleasing design for our clients.

Defining your project

If we understand your project, we can tailor the best possible experience to help it succeed for you and your user base.

Through discussing and then analysing your requirements a detailed project plan can be created outlining it’s premise, specification, architecture and features. This information will help us craft a focused experience, specific to your applications needs.

Great design occurs when function and aesthetic are combined to create a seamless, elegant experience

Understanding your users

The biggest mistake a web app owner can make is to design a product to fit their own needs without thinking about what other people want.

By conducting user research and usability tests up front we can give your product a great starting point. However it’s impossible to know everything your users need from the beginning, that’s why we aim to launch quickly, listen to feedback and iterate to improve.

Develop a design strategy

Once we’ve defined your project and understand your users requirements we can create a design strategy document.

It will provide a series of guidelines for you and our team to work from , a source of reference which helps everyone stay on the same page. This helps ensure the projects outcome is cohesive and successful.

Specifically it outlines design rules (in structure and visuals) and content requirements before work can be commenced.

A solid design strategy can greatly reduce the time & effort needed to roll out an app

Prototyping

With all the content in place we start to design a layout from it. This part of the process is fast paced as we sketch out ideas which quickly become wireframe prototypes which are iterated upon to achieve the optimal structure to fit your content and users needs.

All of our products are created responsively when possible. This means we are not designing for a specific device such as an iPhone or a PC but rather we are considering how the content will be viewed and interacted with on any medium at any size. By doing so we are crafting a user experience that fits for everyone.

Considered visuals

Now that we’ve built out our prototype layouts we have can apply a design layer on top to improve the experience and engage your users. This is an important step which we carefully consider to ensure the product reflects your brand in a meaningful appropriate way without compromising on function.

One of the things we pride ourselves on in the Rumble Laboratory is our creativity. We’re always trying to find better ways to enrich our functional and aesthetic output.
